NC Works Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

NC Works can provide funding for the full cost of SembraSchool’s CNA training programs. They can also help with transportation, testing fees, and childcare.

You may be eligible for funding if you meet the following criteria:

• Adult
  • At least 18 years of age
  • U.S. citizen
  • No income or low-income
• Dislocated Worker
  • Dislocated workers are people who have been terminated or laid off, have received notice of termination or layoff, are self-employed but unemployed as a result of general economic conditions in the community or natural disaster, are displaced homemakers, or been unemployed for 13 weeks or more or seeking to become employed.
• NextGen (Young Adults)
  • 16 to 24 years of age
  • U.S. citizen

Steps to Get Funded

• Make an Appointment: Contact or visit your local NCWorks Career Center to request an appointment with a career counselor
• Register Online: Before your first appointment, create an account on NC Works Online.
• Bring Required Documents to your appointment: Bring a government-issued photo ID, your Social Security card, proof of household income (or layoff notice), and any work authorization documents, if applicable.
• Choose an Approved Program: Let your counselor know you have chosen SembraSchool. We are on their list of “approved programs.”
• Complete an Assessment: Work with your counselor to complete an evaluation and create an Individual Employment Plan and finalize your funding.
