This class prepares you to take and pass the NC Adult Care Medication Examination and be listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. With this certification, you can work as a MedTech in Assisted Living Facilities.

A MedTech (AKA Medication Aide in adult care homes) is an individual who has successfully completed the required Medication Aide course(s) approved by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, passed the state written medication exam for Medication Aides in adult care homes and has completed competency skills validation at the employing facility.

All Medication Aides in adult care homes must have competency validation at the employing facility and maintain the 6 hours of continuing education requirements annually.

Our Medication Aide course is based on training developed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Board of Nursing and covers topics including:

  • Obtaining and recording vital signs accurately
  • Assisted glucose monitoring
  • Legal implications of medication administration
  • Preventing common medication administration errors
  • Proficiency and safety in medication preparation and administration
  • Medication terminology and labeling
  • Three checks and Six Rights of medication administration
  • Medication management, storage, and disposal

According to salary.com, the average salary for a MedTech in Raleigh, NC is $36,000 to $43,000 per year.

This is a 15-hour course. We offer a weekday and a weekend option as follows:

  • Weekdays: Tues, Wed, Thurs, (3 days) 8am to 1pm
  • Weekends: Sat & Sun, (2 days) 9am to 4:30pm
